However, many companies face a practical dilemma: How long should records be retained? Which ones should be kept long-term, and which can be destroyed?
1. General Rules for Record Retention Periods

For paper records, consider moisture-proofing, fireproofing, and pest control. For electronic records, consider backup frequency, storage capacity, and format readability (for example, can a 10-year-old Excel file still be opened today?).

3. Execute Regular Archiving
